On January 24, 2017 God welcomed home, His ever faithful child, James Robert Laskowski, after a valiant struggle with cancer.
Jim was born September 5, 1965 in Hillsboro, Wisconsin to Victor P. Laskowski and Marcella B. (Stanek) Laskowski. He grew up in a farming family and in high school was active in FFA. Jim joined the US Army and was stationed in Bad Kissingen, Germany where he repaired the hydraulic units on tank turrets and was awarded a good conduct medal, a sharpshooter marksmanship badge and an expert marksmanship badge. After returning home, Jim went to diesel truck driving school and drove over the road for Millis Transfer for several years. He then attended college where he was president of Phi Theta Kappa and a peer adviser. In 1998, he graduated with honors from UW-Madison and became a licensed pharmacist in August 1998. Jim worked as a staff pharmacist, a district relief pharmacist and managing pharmacist for Wal-Mart throughout Wisconsin and into Minnesota. He also worked as a casual time pharmacist for Walgreens and Marshfield Clinic. Jim was always willing to go the extra mile for his patients and anyone he could help.
In 1988, Jim met his wife, Carolyn (King) Laskowski at UW-Eau Claire. God joined them in marriage on June 23, 1990 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Appleton. Jim and Carrie were blessed with 5 children, Brian, Anneliese (Steven Brenner), Elizabeth, Jonathon and Sarah. Jim loved his family very much. Jim and Carrie bought land and built a house in 2000. Farming was always in Jim's blood so he planted his acres with corn, beans, oats, wheat, barley or hay. He loved raising animals too with steers, chickens and goats. Fried chicken, chicken dumpling soup and pecan pie were his favorites. He loved to build, fix things and work on his tractors. He built furniture and beds for the kids. Jim was looking forward to building toys for his granddaughter who is due in April 2017. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Victoria.
He is survived by his wife and children, his brother Joseph (Kathy) Laskowski, 4 sisters Ann (Mike) Porco, Samantha (Len) Krupinski, Margaret (Tim) Arguello, Patricia (Bill) Morren, his in-laws Pauline and Howard King, a sister in law Cheryl (Larry) Kaczmarek, and brother in law Robert King and several nieces and nephews."God is our refuge and strength, our ever present help in trouble." Psalm 46. Cancer may have won the battle over his body but Jim's soul won everlasting joy through faith in Christ Jesus to be with God in heaven eternally.
