Ralph R. Boettcher, 91, of Augusta, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 10, 2018 at the Augusta Health and Rehabilitation.
Ralph Robert Boettcher, son of Robert and Rosella (Sperber) Boettcher was born April 7, 1927 in the Hay Creek area of Bridge Creek Township. Ralph with his younger brother Ron was raised on the family farm in Hay Creek and he attended HayCreek County School. Ralph was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church inHay Creek and after his marriage he transferred his membership to Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta. It was at Grace Lutheran that he was united in marriage to BettyMarie Nehring on July 15, 1967. The couple farmed in Bridge Creek Township, ruralFairchild, until retiring and moving into the home they built in Augusta in 1993.Ralph loved farming, the field work and the animals. While living on the farm in the Bridge Creek Township he served several years on the township board. He and Betty loved dancing to polka music and went to as many dances as possible. After moving into town and with Betty’s health, they still enjoyed entertaining card parties at their home. No longer farming Ralph continued to raise beautiful vegetable gardens and house plants, and instead of horses and cows he took loving care of his Shih Tzu. Living next door to the Augusta Community Center he enjoyed the time spent there playing cards, shooting pool and spending time with friends.
After Betty passed away on March 22, 2014, Ralph continued to live in their home until moving into the Augusta Nursing Home in August of 2015. Ralph will be deeply missed by his son, Randy and Becky Boettcher of Augusta; daughter Wanda Boettcher of Columbia Heights, MN; 2 step grandchildren, Glen and Jacob; brother-in-law, David Nehring of Augusta; sister-in-law, Jeanette and Richard Lange of Augusta; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife Betty, Ralph was also preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rosella; and his brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Dona Boettcher.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Augusta, with Pastor Jonathan Wessel officiating.
Burial will be in the West Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
