Cynthia Gunter
Cynthia Lou Gunter, also known by her many nicknames "Red", "Madre", "C$", passed away on October 11, 2024, peacefully at "The River" home, surrounded by family. She was 68 years old.

Cynthia was born on July 17th, 1956 in Eau Claire, WI. Cynthia graduated from St. Bede's High School in Eau Claire, Class of '74. Following High School, Cynthia attended Chippewa Valley Technical College. Cynthia spent the rest of her adult life, caring for others, including her family. Cynthia was a CNA, an accountant, and finished her career as an in-home daycare provider, including foster and respite care. One of the highlights of Cynthia's life was owning and operating Shenandoah's Art and Gifts in Osseo, WI with her daughter, Vanessa.
Cynthia lived in and raised her family at her Great-Grandparent's home on Vine St. in Eau Claire, WI. She would lovingly refer to this as "Vine St.". In the early 2000's, Cynthia became a resident of Augusta, WI, carrying on her career. In 2013, she moved to "The River”, a nickname she gave the home on the Eau Claire River that has been in the family for generations.

Cynthia loved music, dancing and taking road trips to the ocean. She was a master of cribbage, if she didn't skunk you, you were winning. She enjoyed word-search puzzles, which kept her mind sharp. Cynthia was a self-appointed foreman, as all that loved her knew. She had a ton of great ideas and delegation was her specialty.  Cynthia's favorite past time was spending time with friends and family.

Cynthia is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Shirley and Elizabeth Campbell; mother, Joan (Campbell) Miles; daughter, Vanessa "Toad" Kay Gunterling; niece Abbigail Joy Jackson.

Cynthia is survived by brother Jeff (Melanie) Jackson of Eleva; sister Elizabeth Ann Jackson (Andy Zehren) of Milwaukee; children Crystal Ann Gunter of Wisconsin; Alicia Pearl (Gunter) Sykes of LaCrosse; stepdaugher Alisha Marie (Berger)Boettcher of Chippewa Falls and stepson Jacob Harley Berger of Elk Mound; grandchildren Josef Tristan Gunter, Estel (Robby), Zariah Gunter, Alexander Lewis Michael Gunter, Aryona Zandreigha Gunter, Quincy Lee Sykes, Blade Zyler Gunterling; great-grandson Asher Zane Gunter.

Cynthia considered many others as family. She did not feel blood relation was necessary to treat each other like family. Cynthia was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer and by the time she received the diagnosis, the cancer was in multiple organs. She fought an uphill battle with a sprinkle of denial. We were blessed to have her for as long as we did! Family and friends want to thank Mayo Health System Eau Claire Oncology and Hospice for the loving care they provided in addition to all of the family and friends that stepped up to care for a woman that spent her life, caring for others.
