Rose M. Lange of Augusta formerly of rural Fall Creek passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024.
Rose was born on July 15, 1929 in St. Paul, MN to Walter & Anna Prieve along with her siblings Richard, Betty, Barbara & Shirley. At the age of five Rose went to live with her Aunt & Uncle, Herb & Emma Zich, and she was later adopted by them. She was raised with her cousins (whom she called brothers and sister) George, Gladys, Robert and David.
Rose was united in marriage to Archie Lange on February 14, 1946. From this union her son Richard and daughter Virginia were born.
Rose was a hard working woman. At age 14 she went to work on a farm outside of Fall Creek as a hired hand due to the shortage of men during World War II. Some of her fondest memories were during that time as she loved working with the horses.
Rose & Archie farmed for many years until Rose decided to work outside the home. She worked for several years at Kmart and Walgreens. Her last job was at the Augusta Nursing Home as a dietary aide which she worked for over 30 years.
Rose had an adventuresome spirit. Since she was a tomboy at heart, she wasn’t afraid of doing outdoor activities along with the boys. She often talked about winning ribbons in track events at the county fair. She loved to dance. Even well into her 90’s, she was still doing water aerobics at the school.
She also was a world traveler having gone to Germany, Poland, France, and the Czech Republic. She traveled to many states in the United States including Hawaii and Alaska.
Rose is survived by her daughter Virginia (Brian) Shafer of Duncanville TX, her brother David Zich of Minneapolis MN, daughter in-law Jeanette Lange of McAllen TX, grandchildren Hondo Lange of Augusta WI, Sheila (Jason) Westerman of Augusta WI, Kim (Troy) Strasburg of Fall Creek WI, Junell (James) Hughes of Eau Claire WI, Jennifer (Evan) Mazur of Fairchild WI, 8 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Archie, son Richard, her parents, adoptive parents, and siblings Richard, Betty, Barbara, Shirley, George, Gladys and Robert.
A visitation will be held Thursday, December 26 from 2-4 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, Augusta.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 27 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fall Creek at 11 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to services at the church.
