John Lone
John Lone Sr., 83, of Augusta passed away Saturday, April 27th 2024, peacefully at home after a battle with heart disease.
John was born July 31st, 1940, at his rural home in Augusta, in Eau Claire County, son of Lillian (Mayo) and Leonard Lone. John attended the Augusta School.
John was united in marriage to Ione Beatrice Raether on Aug. 6, 1960, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The couple raised their boys and daughter in Ludington township. John held a various array of jobs during his lifetime from delivery man, farm hand, farmer, factory worker, taxidermist, and spent many years as an over the road trucker.
John was and avid outdoorsman and loved to ride his 4 wheeler out in the woods and watch the wild life on the farm. One of his particular loves was to watch birds. You could often catch him watching the birds out the window at one of his numerous feeders.
John is survived by his wife Ione; 2 sons, John and Liza Lone Jr. of Augusta, David and Christine Lonewolf of Ogdensburg, WI; daughter Rachel and Doug McArthur, of Waubun, MN; 9 grandchildren Joshua and Kayla Lone, Xavier (and Kim) , Xaviera Cozart (and David), Xantippean, Xenos, Xenon, and Xyrus Lonewolf, and Douglas(and Anika) McArthur Jr.; 5 great grandchildren; sister Joanne Quilling and brother, Dale (Linda) Lone all of Augusta; several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Lillian; infant son Ronald Lone; brother Gordon Lone, sister in law Arlys Lone, and brother in law Dick Quilling.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 3, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with burial in the East Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.
Friends may call Friday from noon until time of services at the funeral home.
