Edward Raether, 87, of rural Fall Creek, passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
Edward Arthur Raether, son of Harold and Myrtle (Thomas) Raether was born Jan. 31, 1937, and was a life long resident of Ludington Township, Eau Claire County. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ludington and continued his membership there.
After graduating from high school he became an apprentice plumber, then a steam fitter and eventually a member of the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local No 434, out of Eau Claire. With the union, his jobs took him throughout the area and into other states as well, in addition to this work he and his family also farmed.
Ed was united in marriage to Brynda LeMay in Las Vegas, Nevada, and together they loved to travel and spent many enjoyable winters at their home in Las Vegas.
Ed enjoyed collecting the older John Deere tractors and up until a month ago could still be seen driving his favorite tractor on the farm. He loved the out doors, especially when he was hunting, fishing, planting trees and gardening.
Ed will be dearly missed by his wife Brynda of Chippewa Falls; 2 sons, Edward Jr. (Robin) Raether of Chippewa Falls, John (Kayte) Raether of Elk Mound; 3 daughters, Tami (Lester) Liptak and Kristine Poehls all of Cadott, Bonnie (Michael) Armstrong of Chippewa Falls; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Barbara) Raether of Humbolt, Iowa; 2 sisters, Lucille (Elmer) Zillmer of Campbellsport, Arlene (Dennis) Anderson of Fall Creek; several nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his mother Myrtle in 2004 and father Harold in 2006
A visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church rural Fall Creek, with a visitation one hour prior to services.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
