Delores Gabler
Delores J. Gabler, 93 years and 10 months, of rural Augusta, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Marshfield Hospital in Eau Claire, WI.

Delores Janette Stensen was born May 11, 1931, in rural Cadott on the Arneson famiy farm, she was baptized by her grandfather in Canada. Her family moved to Otter Creek Township, in rural Augusta when they purchased their first farm in 1937, when she was a young child. She attended, Scotts Valley Country School and graduated from Augusta High School in the class of 1949. Following graduation, she attended Eau Claire Teacher’s School which is now UW-Eau Claire for a 2 year teaching degree. She began her teaching career at the Pride County School, where a neighbor boy noticed the new teacher next door and proceeded to introduce himself. She was united in marriage to Robert Gabler on August 7, 1954, at the Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church. They lived near his parents until purchasing their farm.

Delores also taught for the Marshfield and Augusta School districts during her teaching career, before staying home to raise her family. She worked hard growing the farm Robert and her purchased in March of 1960 in Lincoln Township, in rural Augusta, where she lived up to the present with her son Kenneth. She was a very hard worker on the farm helping do chores, and she drove tractor to help with planting & harvesting the crops. She enjoyed keeping the lawn and did many landscaping projects. Delores enjoyed her hostas and lilies even more in her later years.

Delores went back to work for the Augusta Elementary School as a Title-One Aide for many years, and helped many children who had a hard time with school. She worked with many teachers as she would go into many different rooms to assist children. She was even a Union rep for the Support staff at her school during her career. Delores was a lifetime teacher and touched many lives with her patient and caring nature, and gift to teach. Many students remembered her and would come and say hello to Mrs. Gabler when they would see her in public. She made a lasting impact!

Delores was very dedicated to her family and did all the running to get all four of them to their many athletic activities during their school years, and also helped with her grandchildren. Delores was involved in 4-H as a youth, and as an adult continued by enrolling all her children. Delores was a 4-H Project leader for many years and took her turn as General Leader of the Russell Corner Badgers 4-H club, before her youngest child finished their 4-H career. She taught all her children and some of her grandchildren many life skills and lessons through 4-H, from things like leathercraft, electricity, and sewing. Delores was a lifetime member of the Augusta FFA alumni. Many years she was part of the local Homemakers group, which she enjoyed getting together with the ladies of the area. She helped plan many class reunions with a group of lifetime friends from High School for many years. She was a confirmed and a member of the Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church all her life and in her later years enjoyed being part of the quilting group.

She and her husband Robert, helped all of their children continuing the family farming legacy and were intricate in helping their son’s purchase their own farms from adjoining neighbors and their daughter purchase her maternal Grandparent’s farm homestead.

Delores & her husband Robert always strived to give their children opportunities, and Delores was a big advocate of them hosting a foreign exchange student, (Christian Leeser) from Germany. To this day Christian calls Delores “his American Mom”.

Delores loved her family more than anything and was very proud of all of them! She always enjoyed helping out when needed, talking with them and hearing how things were going. We were always amazed at her perfect cursive penmanship. Delores made holidays very special with her wonderful cooking for many years and special ”Santa” gifts. She was a devoted daughter, always hosted her parents for many years with her sister and family also attending. She continued her mother’s traditions of Klub, Swedish Meatballs and Lefse at holiday meals. She passed down this tradition by creating a Klub recipe to guide the next generations. This year a grandson helped her daughter make it for her and the whole family to enjoy, during her last Christmas here on earth.

Delores was a caring & loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Relative and friend. She had a long life and was fortunate to be able to live at home until her last days. She always encouraged her family to take part in new endeavors, and being a lifetime teacher, her family feels truly blessed to have had such a wonderful loving matriarch! She will be profoundly missed!
