Patsy Ida
Patsy Ida, 71, life long resident of Fairchild, passed away at her home in early Thursday morning, January 16, 2025.

Patsy Ann Ida, daughter of Nathan “Nate” and Arelia “Wely” (Kaufman) Larson was born June 24, 1953. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fairview. Patsy attended grade school in Fairchild and graduated from Osseo-Fairchild High School in 1971. In 1976 Patsy was united in marriage to Michael Ida and to this union their son Travis was born.

Her parents, Nate and Wely established Larson’s Wayside Bar in 1940, and eventually after her parents passed away the bar was operated by Patsy and her brother Bernie. After Bernie passed away in March of 2003, Patsy continued to live in the adjoiningg house and kept the bar open until selling the business in 2021, but continued to live in her home.
For many years Patsy worked for the Osseo-Fairchild School District as a bus driver and enjoyed the interaction with the students. Through the bar long lasting friendships where made, especially with her involvement with pool, horse shoe, softball, volley ball and bowling leagues. She loved playing pool herself and never turned down the opportunity to play a game.

Patsy’s faith was also an important part of her life and actively supported St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish. Patsy also had a soft spot in her heart for animals, loved going to the zoo and over the years gave a loving home to several cats.

Patsy deeply loved her son Travis and enjoyed spending time with him and opening her home to his friends, seeing to it that they were all taken care of and well fed when they gathered in her establishment and home.
Since the birth of her grandson Traycen and most recently the addition of Kashton, Patsy took on the role of an extremely loving and devoted grandma. If Traycen was in any sporting event or activities she was there, front row center.

Patsy will be dearly missed by her son, Travis Ida and his fiancée Kelly Hofmann of Chippewa Falls; beloved grandsons, Traycen and Kashton Ida; aunt Geraldine Kaufman of Fairchild; special long time friends, Mary Wilbur and Diane Benson; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Patsy was preceded in death by her father Nate on January, 12, 1973; mother Wely on April 17, 2003; and siblings, LeRoy, Mary Jane and Bernard Larson.

A visitation will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with a rosary service being recited at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Fairview, rural Fairchild with Father Peter Kieffer officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Mayo Home Hospice and especially all of Patsy’s wonderful friends that through her recent illness was there for her providing not only excellent care but also tremendous love and support. Your kindness and devotion will never be forgotten.
