Jerry A. Johnson, 76, of Augusta, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 30, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire.
Jerry Aaron Johnson, son of Sanford and Leora (Marten) Johnson was born November 13, 1948. Jerry with his older brother John was raised in rural Augusta, attended country school and graduated from Augusta High School in 1967.
Jerry was the father of 3 daughters, Melinda and Angela born during his marriage to Brenda Sie, and daughter Leeann born to his marriage to Cheryl Porter. On October 5, 1984, he was united in marriage to Cheri Sippel and with that marriage he became step father to Tammy, Tracie and Brandon Harvey. Jerry and Cheri made their home in Augusta and after Cheri passed away in January of 2011, he continued to live in their home until moving to Ludington Township in 2021 to be near his son Brandon and his family.
Over the years Jerry had worked on the family farm with his father, home contruction with his brother, odd jobs for Augusta residents as well as working for Mail Source in Augusta. He loved collecting a wide array of items but was especially interested in metal die cast model farm tractors. With his wife Cheri they attended many auctions, flea markets and thrift sales to hunt out items they thought they could resale.
Jerry was a very private individual who mainly kept to himself but did enjoy hunting and fishing in the area. Over the years in addition to opening his home to family and friends he also provided a loving home to many dogs.
Jerry is survived by his daughters, Melinda “Mindy” (Don) Yaeger of Mondovi, Angela Peterson of Osseo, Leeann (Richard) Lewallen of Stanley; son Brandon Harvey of Augusta; 18 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and brother John (Pat) Johnson of Chetek.
In addition to his wife Cheri, Jerry was preceded in death by his mother Leora in February of 1973; father Sanford in October of 1986; and step daughters Tammy Harvey in August of 2007 and Tracie Harvey in June of 2012.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with Pastor Jonathan Wessel officiating.
Friends may call 2 hours prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be held at a later date in the East Lawn Cemetery in Augusta.
