Lorraine Kromrey               *Attention:  Service Date Changed
Lorraine Kromrey Lorraine “Rainy” Kromrey, 88, formerly of Fall Creek, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, Jan. 25, 2025, at Woodland Hills Senior Living in Hudson.

Lorraine Harriet Kromrey, daughter of Robert and Theresa (Pape) Tumm, was born October 21, 1936, in Ludington Township, Eau Claire County. She attended Woodland Valley Country School with her 7 siblings and graduated from Augusta High School in 1954. Lorraine was united in marriage with Erick Arthur Kromrey on Sept. 15, 1956, at St. James Trinity Lutheran Church in Fall Creek. Never tiring of each other’s company, the couple shared nearly 65 wonderful years together until Erick’s passing on July 26, 2021.

Prior to relocating to Hudson in recent years to be near to children and grandchildren, Erick and Lorraine were life-long residents of Fall Creek and active members of St. James Trinity Lutheran Church. Lorraine spent 31 years with the Fall Creek School District where she greatly enjoyed her time with teachers and coworkers, and being involved with generations of young “Crickets” as they passed through elementary school. Lorraine was a talented seamstress and an avid quilter, making countless quilts for donation with the St. James Quilting Club, as well as for family and friends. She was also a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and of the Fall Creek Historical Society.

Lorraine enjoyed baking (especially for her grandchildren), taking care of her flower and vegetable gardens (her dill pickles were the best!), and loved her polka music -- with many summers including a trip to Milwaukee for German Fest. But most of all, Rainy loved spending time and laughing with family and friends who will remember her as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, and dear friend. One of Lorraine’s favorite sayings was “Life Is Good!” Here’s to a good life well-lived! Prost!

Lorraine will be dearly missed by 3 children, Gary (Nancy) Kromrey of Carpentersville, IL, Sally (Allan) Abley & Gregg (Kay) Kromrey of Hudson; 5 grandchildren, Erica (Addy) Kahn of Elgin, IL, Cole Kromrey of Carpentersville, IL, and Vincent of Hudson, Vaughn of Green Bay & Claire Kromrey of Hudson; sister, Joyce Wathke of Fall Creek ; sisters-in law, Tena Kromrey of Janesville, Hazel Tumm and Vivian Tumm of Fall Creek, Mary Tumm of Osseo, Phyllis Laas of Littleton, CO ; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to husband Erick; Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Theresa Tumm; and siblings Arvid ( Delores) Tumm, Arnie, Bud, and Charlie Tumm, Elmira (Bill) Maik, Margie (Herman) Thomas and Myron Wathke; Erick’s parents, Erich and Erna Kromrey; and his siblings Leona (Harold) Volbrecht, Elda (Marlow) Bruesewitz, George (Margaret) Kromrey, Irene (Harlow) Matz, and Albert, Rev. Harold, and Elmyra Kromrey.

A visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. James Trinity Lutheran Church, with funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Justin Arnold officiating.

Burial will be in the Trinity Cemetery in Fall Creek.
